Yo Ho Ho & A Bottle Of Rum!

If you don't know about Sailor Jerry's Spiced Caribbean Rum, then I'm telling you. Its the shit. Mix it with Coke, a squeezed lime slice and some ice and you got yourself a drink worthy of the God's. To be fair, it's hopeless trying to describe the how boom this drink is. Just ask for it in your local watering hole.

The Man Behind The Rum
Back in the day, before airlines, only two kinds of people actually got to see the world. The first were filthy rich, highly pampered, and worthless to anyone but their entourage. The second were crude, cursing, honorable, scallywags - aka sailors. If you didn’t have the gold, you needed the brass. If you didn’t have either, you were pretty much stuck where you were born. But if you gave up your dry life, you could get to see Shanghai, Tahiti, Casablanca, Thailand and other exotic places.

Sailor Jerry travelled around the world, not only getting his first tattoos, but also gaining exposure to the art and imagery of Southeast Asia. This later became a crucial influence when he opened his first tattoo shop in Honolulu’s Chinatown, ground zero for swaggering sailors, drunken soldiers and whoever else wasn’t afraid to hang around volatile levels of testosterone.

Roving sailors weren’t looking at the nuances of shading and colour, they were seeking pictures worth showing off to their buddies back home. Sailor Jerry built his business with bold designs that expressed the mind set of his clientele. His work includes hearts broken in two, the words “BUSTED!” printed in the gap between the jagged halves. Another heart is gashed through with a torpedo. There are whole hearts as well, with banners customized for girlfriends, mothers, and fathers.

Overall, he is a great man. Full of adventure, mysticism and Rum. Therefore, in apprecition and comemoration of the 'King of Old Style Tatooing' this fine Spiced Rum has taken his name, keeping it alive for a long time to come. Cheers!
